Clay County High School is located in Ashland, Alabama (36251). Around 500 students are enrolled in grades 7-12. CCHS has around 35 faculty and staff members. The school is a 3A school. The colors are blue and white with a mascot of a panther. The ethnic breakdown is 80% white, 19% black, and 1% hispanic. CCHS offers an advanced, standard, and occupational diplomas. CCHS has many extracurricular activities that include sports for both gender and clubs for all grades. CCHS has many awards and special recognition. The Panthers have won 6 football state championships, 2 boys basketball state championships, and has had two National Jr. Beta officers and 4 state Jr. Beta officers. The academic program and curriculum rivals most larger schools. Over half of the teachers have masters degree. The Panther Pride Band is second to none. Some notable alumni are Governor Bob Riley, Chief Justice Hugo Black, NFL All-Pro Howard Ballard (Buffalo Bills), Auburn Basketball standout Lance Weems, and six-time AHSAA Coach of Year Danny Horn.
